148Apps: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

I wonder how well it works with someone else sleeping in the bed. I wouldn't want my husband's movements to register as my own. Anyone tested that yet?
  • murrek · 3 months ago
I have! In my case my body "blocks" the movement of my girlfriend and the telephone does not register her movement. I guess this depends on many things but in my case it works perfectly!

I also recommend this app. I like to wake up in the middle of the night just to drink a protein shake and this is helping me a lot.

It ridiculously doesnt support ipod touch, it could atleast make the screen black in an ipod touch version. Im left not knowing if its ok to leave it on dimly or not with my touch, might be bad for the pixels..

Check another smart alarm clock - Easywakeup. It supports ipod touch.

The problem with iPod Touch support is apparently that it is not possible to shut off the screen during the night. This is a problem because the device can become warm during the night if the screen is on, even if you display a black screen.

I tried this app last night... and it did something strange: sometimes it would briefly but annoyingly "chirp" whenever I moved in my sleep. What gives? It did wake me up in the morning, but because I had been kept from sleeping well by those sound signals in the first place, I didn't feel especially refreshed. I don't see any config in the app to disable those signals. Anyone has a solution to this problem?

Are you sure you didn't have the test-function on all night? =)

The test function makes a sound every time you move in bed.

The reason for this, it turned out, was something very silly: poor contact in the wall plug, which caused the iPhone to momentarily stop charging whenever I tossed and turned in bed. So it was not the app's fault :)

That app is amazing, although my partner is on her way to the toilet 5 times per night and our dog sleeps (read: jumps) in the bed as well, it works perfectly. The Iphone fell on the floor in the middle of the night. I then put back in the bed and it still worked perfect. It even had no problem finding the perfect time to wake me up while I was suffering from an 8 hour time-difference-jet-lag.
This app utilizes witchcraft I assume...

The only time it failed was when I slept in a different bed and didn't reset it.

Why do you need to keep the phone plugged in? Is the app such a battery hog? I have a 3gs with 3.0.1 firmware and I know battery life sucks, but in airplane mode with everything else turned off do I still need to keep it plugged in???

No you don't need the phone plugged in. I've tried with my 2-month-old 3GS and it took about 20% off the battery overnight in 6.5 hours. On the website it says 30% in one night.

Unless you want to wake up with a half-flat battery and having to recharge it again through the day, isn't it easier to just charge it while you sleep? (though it's not exactly environmetally friendly to keep the phone charging all night, is it now)

Why does this not work with the Itouch?
  • Ben · 1 week ago
I used it with the itouch last night and it worked fine, had no problem with screen warming.

Got the app after reading this review and the very helpful comments... I'm now looking forward to my wake up tomorrow morning, jumping out of bed and feeling like a new man :)
