The graphs showed no movement, as expected, and actually warned me it didn't detect any (by text). This confirmed my previous personal experience: The app works as it should, at least technically. But does it work in making me less sleepy in the morning? I think so, but I haven't concluded yet. It is not like I feel that much more awake. But, naturally, that comes down to different factors (hours of previous sleep etc.).

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

Here is a Comparison table of all Bio Alarm Clocks
https://docs.google.com/spr...

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

As I am almost totally deaf .. I did find and " alarm clock " years ago that really helped me. It called the Sunrise clock. You set it and a light gently wakes you up. My sleep is definately better...I feel very refreshed having used this item... I downloaded this app ecause i was curious about sleep patterns. Of course the alarm didnt wake me ( I cant hear it ) I did rise before the alarm was set to go off.

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

the app points out in the description that when you place the phone on a table or desk it will still be able to read your sleep patterns but it will dramatically different than your normal reading

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

sleep starts with two long deep sleep phases, after that they follow each other much more rapidly, and within a 30 minute period you will always have a light phase of sleep.

these apps are incredible, they changed my life, no less !

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

This is completely false. It calibrates to your movements, so if there is little movement from the start it can't calibrate well. I woke up in the middle of the night and put it on my stand, and it flat-lined after that since it had already calibrated to my movements. Not only that, but the awake peaks coincided with every time I woke up during the night (prior to putting it on my night stand).

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

Try EasyWakeup. I wasted a a dollar and APPLE should know.

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

You didn't read the manual? You remind me so much of myself because I too have a passionate love affair with sleep and currently, everyday at work I count down the hours until I get to go home and pass out. Anyway I was so grumpy this morning so I did some searching and and came across this app. I'm definitely downloading it for use next week (as today is Friday... I'm waking up when I damn well please the next two mornings).

Anyway just wanted to sa your review was funny and enjoyable. I will certainly be giving this app a whirl!

-Mary

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

The application is FAKE. If you place the phone on for instance a table over night instead it still shows statistics depicting a persons sleep. SO unless my apartment is haunted by ghosts I do not think the table moves around by itself.

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

just started using the app on my ipod touch 2g. turn the brightness all the way down. disabled wifi and auto lock so it stays on and drains as little battery as possible. tried it 2 times now and it drains ~40% of the battery so am left with ~60% in the morning. My ipod did not over heat, your experience may vary.

app seems to work fine for me. I thought it was fairly accurate. I sleep on a mattress with a 4" memory foam topper and it reads the movements just fine. on the 2nd day it woke me up at 6:10 instead of 6:30, thought it was just gonna go with 6:30 since it says it takes 2 days to calibrate. this was probably the best time since the chart said i was falling into deeper sleep so given the time range it recognized it was the best time to wake me up.

wake up sounds are very nice. nice and mellow instead of my usual rock music which usually jolts me awake (nothing like waking up to Mickey Avalon lol).

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

i have an itouch with os 4.0. It worked perfect the first 2 nights until I noticed the screen wasn't really turning off when you put it face down. I clicked the top button to shut the screen off and opened it back up to see if the app was still running. Well little did I know that it looked like it was running but the accelerometer was not. Therefore nothing was recorded for the entire night. Boohooo. Apparently an update is on the way to resolve this limitation. So hang in there and make sure your ipod has the latest firmware and OS.

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

This app sounds great, although I doubt how accurate it is I'm sure its worth a try for such a low price! I saw on their website that alcohol changes the typical sleep pattern, which was interesting. I'm taking a muscle relaxant for a neck problem, and it also happens to be a strong sedative. And lo! Apparently I'm spending the vast majority of the time in deep sleep, with only 1 1/2 rounds of REM etc during the 8 hrs. Of course, I just started using the app so it might not be fully calibrated...or maybe my placement is wrong and it's just not reading all my movements...but I'm curious if anyone's seen anything similar from using a sleeping pill, for example. Hmmm?

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

It managed to wake me up and confirmed for me the fact that I'm not sleeping well. :( *sighs*

I made a longer review in my blog! If you want to use this app you can use the app called "ScreenDimmer" which allows you to dim or even turn off the backlight without locking the ipod. If you set the auto-lock to "never" and add "sleep cycle alarm clock" to the "excuded apps" list within the "ScreeDimmer" app, then the accelerometer should (i say should cause i haven't had the time to try it out yet... i will 2nite though! :D) stay on all night - which is exactly what we want!if it works for you hit me back! :)

btw: ScreenDimmer: http://iphonepk.net/2010/02...
how to install deb files: http://iphonepk.net/tutoria...
and you need a jailbroken ipod

goodluck for you AND for me!

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

I have too...and it's fine...it generally only registers my movement...love the app...have written about it on my blog - http://www.kevcharlton.com/...

Re: Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

I just tried it on battery last night.

When I went to bed my 3G iPhone had about 75-80% on the battery meter (end of 1 day with 3G turned off so my battery wasn't drained). When I woke up the phone was off... and the battery was completely done. Fortunately I woke up at my alarm time anyway (to the minute... strange). The app did not save any of the data for the night.

So I would say that YES you do need to keep it plugged in.
